This year has really been Zendaya's year for many reasons because 2019 has been the most exciting year for Zendaya's career so far, from being announced as the newest, and youngest, Brand Ambassadress for Lancome Paris and fronting the ad campaign for their upcoming fragrance "Idole" coming out on August 22, 2019. To even scoring her second VOGUE Magazine cover in June shot by photographer Tyler Mitchell(who also made history as the first black photographer to shoot a VOGUE Magazine cover when he shot Beyonce for last year's September Issue, and also made history again as being the first black photographer to have a photo acquired into the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery), to starring as "Michelle "MJ" Jones" alongside Tom Holland in the now $1 Billion Grossing Summer Blockbuster film "Spider-Man: Far From Home", to even more recently departing from her notable Disney Channel work by starring as troubled teenager "Rue Bennett" in HBO's new gritty breakout hit tv show "Euphoria" which is already getting rave reviews from cinema critics, and potential Emmy's buzz.
With all of those super exciting projects happening for Zendaya, it is no surprise that Zendaya scored a nomination and won for the "Choice Summer Movie Star: Female" and "Choice Summer Movie" for her role as "Michelle "MJ" Jones" in "Spider-Man: Far From Home" at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, because while Michelle Jones may have gotten only minimal screen time in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" she got plenty of screen time in the follow up "Spider-Man: Far From Home" where the film delved into the on-screen evolution of the romantic relationship between Michelle Jones, and the "Spider-Man" himself, Peter Parker. This film proved to be the most successful out of the Marvel Studios "Spider-Man" franchise as it grossed $1 Billion in ticket sales globally. It goes to show that there is massive star power between both Zendaya and her co-star Tom Holland.
The ceremony, which was hosted by actress Lucy Hale, which was held outdoors on Hermosa Beach in Los Angeles with a massive crowd in attendance couldn't have been a more appropriate setting for Zendaya's outfit. As she accepted her "Choice Summer Actress" award, she stated that the films were a dream come true for her, and thanked all of the fans for supporting the film, she also thanked the rest of her "Spider-Man: Far From Home" cast for the great experiences that she has had while filming the movie with them, as she held the giant surfboard trophy that she won and accepted that was presented to her from actress Jessica Alba.
For the beauty portion of the summer red carpet look, Zendaya's very dewy skin glowed so effortlessly as she went a light delicate natural summer eyeshadow look, a naturally feathered brow shape, with a soft semi-glossy pink lip, the cosmetics all presumably coming from Lancome Paris. As for her hair, done by her longtime Hairstylist Kim Kimble, she kept her naturally curly locks Lara Croft style by having the hair braided to the back and flowing down her back in a messy fishtail effect, which is an opposite comparison to the very sleek "Meechee" inspired ponytail braid that she wore to the movie premiere of "Small Foot" back in September of last year.
As for the fashion portion of this blog post, because this is a fashion blog after all, over the course of her style evolution, Zendaya, under the guidance of her longtime wardrobe stylist LAW Roach, has always been very demure and modest with her red carpet looks, making sure that her looks were always appropriate, and never too risque with her fashion choices as she is gracefully coming into her womanhood. With her breakout role as Rue Bennett on HBO's "Euphoria", we have seen Zendaya come out of her shell a little bit, which is why her outfit choice for the 2019 Teen Choice Awards is a very bold and very interesting look for Zendaya.
For Zendaya's bold Teen Choice Awards red carpet look, her stylist LAW Roach looked to the Resort 2020 Runway collections for the summer-inspired look and picked look number 51 straight from the Jacquemus Resort 2020 RTW Collection. It is very exciting considering that Jacquemus is one of the biggest fashion designers of the moment, LAW has always wanted to have a major Jacquemus moment with Zendaya and is finally having one of the red carpet at least. This is Zendaya's second Jacquemus look of the year since her appearance outside of the Ed Sullivan Theatre at the Stephen Colbert Show when the "Spider-Man: Far From Home" press tour hit New York City back in June of this year.
The Jacquemus runway look consisted of the yellow oversized checked printed Jacquemus "Le Polo Torchon Oversized Printed Polo Top", and the most surprising piece of clothing for this look, which is the "Le Short Boca Leather Mini Shorts" which really emphasizes Zendaya's very long and modelesque legs, as she previewed on her Instagram story shortly before gracing the red carpet event.
For the shoes, as any of you who have ever paid close attention to the majority of Zendaya's red carpet looks over the years, you may have noticed that she loves to wear a classic pump. And not just any classic pump, but a White classic pump is what she loves to wear, dating back to her "Spider-Man: Homecoming" press tour back in 2017 where her shoe of choice was the white Le Silla "Eva" Pump. Now, we may never know the reason as to why Zendaya's go-to pump is white no matter the brand, but I love to guess. Her brand of choice for this particular look was those very same "Eva" 120mm Pumps by Le Silla, which have become her other favorite go-to show outside of her beloved Christian Louboutin "So Kate" 120mm pumps. The entire look is very casual yet bold and interesting at the same time, which will certainly have the internet talking.
As for the jewels, which were a big surprise at the price range, considering that Zendaya wore a very affordable pair of spiral hoop pearl accented earrings by Baublebar, which are their "Sophea" Hoops, just $38! what a steal considering that it is a red carpet celebrity look which is known for very fine expensive jewelry. For the pricier end of jewelry, she wore the Mateo New York "14k Gold Initial Pendant" Necklace.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I absolutely adore this look, it was so appropriate for the event, she looks so relaxed and refreshed yet glamourous, also and not overdone in any way possible. I also love it because it is yet another fabulous Jacquemus moment for Zendaya, which is a huge deal, and what would mean more Jacquemus moments for Zendaya in the future.
