2019: A Comprehensive Look Back At Zendaya's Year In Fashion!

Throughout her career, Zendaya has been on a long blossoming path into becoming the next Fashion Icon, and the year of 2019 was her year of blossoming from a caterpillar into a gorgeous butterfly. So here is a look back at all of Zendaya's Fashion Highlights throughout the year.

LANCÔME

Zendaya throughout her acting career has garnered the attention and influence of many young and impressionable young fans, with a strong social media presence of over 17 million Twitter followers, and an even more incredible 64 million followers on Instagram(81 million combined), it is no surprise that Lancome Paris tapped her to become one of their newest Global Brand Ambassadress' of the year. In the year of 2019, Zendaya was not only announced as the newest and youngest face of Lancôme Paris, but also fronted three advertisement campaigns in the Fall from their Teint Idôle Fragrance to their L'Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipsticks, and making her official Lancôme debut as the face of the brand new Millenial targeted Fragrance Idôle, which went onto becoming one of the biggest selling Fragrances of the year for Lancome.

TOMMY X ZENDAYA

Not only was Zendaya fronting ad campaigns for Lancome Paris, but she was also very busy designing not one but two very cohesive 70's influenced capsule collections with her longtime wardrobe stylist LAW Roach for Tommy Hilfiger. The Spring Collection presentation was set in Paris with the theme being the ode to Black Fashion Icons and the legendary Battle Of Versailles featuring legendary supermodels like Beverly Johnson, Pat Cleveland, and Grace Jones. The Fall 2019 runway presentation took place at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York City continuing within the theme an ode to Blackness revolving around the Power Suit, Legendary Supermodel Alek Wek closed out the show.

FASHION MEETS TECHNOLOGY AT THE MET

For this year's MET Gala, Zendaya wanted to say "Au Revoir" to her Disney years by recreating the iconic Cinderella transformation moment where Cinderella's gown transforms from tattered rags into the beautiful gown. The coolest fact about it is that the dress was animatronic, and they specifically sought out the engineering team behind those animatronic Hussein Chalayan dresses.

POWER SUITING

The latter part of 2019 was the year of the suit for Zendaya, with the biggest Power Suit moment being her Berluti suit moment at the Harper's BAZAAR Icons party during New York Fashion Week showing how Menswear can be showcased on women effortlessly. Power Suits were also the theme behind her second Tommy Hilfiger show and influenced Zendaya's wardrobe choices throughout the latter part of 2019.

EMERGING BRANDS

One thing to admire about Zendaya's style is that it is never predictable, so it is absolutely no surprise that she is one to give the spotlight to emerging designers. One of the biggest notables this year was the brand Peter Do, who studied under Phoebe Philo, another brand that she gave a massive spotlight to was Lagos designer Imane Ayissi, who she wore after her stylist LAW Roach attended Fashion Week in Lagos, Africa. Other designers would include Australian based Christopher Esber, and Monot.

ESTABLISHED BRANDS

Not only was Zendaya giving a massive spotlight to emerging brands, but she also got many established brands to finally notice her and dress her. This year we finally saw Zendaya have huge moments with Armani, Fendi, Miu Miu, and Nina Ricci.

MONOCHROMATIC RED

With Zendaya being the face of Lancôme's L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick, this year we saw her in an abundance of Monochromatic Red Looks. She even went as far as to dye her tresses Rouge when she promoted the Spider-Man Sequel. It is safe to say that Red was officially her favorite color this year.

Happy New Year!
